Welcome to Fishing Lake Arenal

Lake Arenal is the largest fresh water lake in Costa Rica surrounded by verdant forest. Its a very popular fishing place for Rainbow Bass (Cichlasoma dovii) which earned its name because of the subtle gradations of color and whos is member of the Cichild family (related to the Peacock Bass (Cichla Temensis) found in the rivers and lakes of South America) and know locally as Guapote (“the most handsome” in Spanish) they are fished just as you would a Largemouth Bass.
